November is the month the Mediterranean stops working and something better takes over. The Canaries, the Red Sea and Cape Verde hold summer heat while Europe’s cities empty out and go cheap.

You probably do not need to fly far. Two of the three most reliable sun spots on this page are inside five and a half hours of London, and the one long-haul destination genuinely worth the flight is not the one most people book.

How These 14 Destinations Were Chosen

No trips were taken to write this page. Every climate figure below is a published climate normal, and every date is from the body that sets it.

• Temperature and rain days come from the WMO Climate Normals for 1991-2020, the current 30-year reference period, taken from each country’s own meteorological service station sheet. Where a country has not submitted 1991-2020 data (Oman, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Portugal), the figure is that service’s own normal published through the WMO World Weather Information Service, and the row says so.
• Sea temperature is the mean of daily sea surface temperature for November 2023, 2024 and 2025 at a point offshore of the main beach, from the Copernicus Marine Service analysis (Météo-France product, roughly 8 km resolution).
• Rain days means days with 1 mm of rain or more, the WMO threshold. A “rainy day” in the Red Sea and a rainy day in Kerala are not remotely the same event, so the millimetre totals matter more than the count in the tropics.
• Price direction is seasonal logic, not a forecast: where November sits inside a destination’s high season it goes up, and where it sits outside one it goes down. There are no invented percentages in that column.
• Shortlisting started from the destinations that are both reachable nonstop or one-stop from Western Europe and warm enough in November to matter, then cut anything where the honest answer is “go in a different month”.

The 14 Best Places to Go in November 2026

Temperature and rain-day figures are WMO Climate Normals for 1991-2020 except Muscat (Oman, 1986-2009), Sri Lanka and Cancun (national service normals published through the WMO World Weather Information Service) and Lisbon (IPMA, 1961-1990 for rain days). Flight times are approximate scheduled nonstop block times and vary by carrier and season.

From Frankfurt and other Central European hubs the picture shifts a little: Egypt and the Gulf are roughly 45 to 60 minutes closer than from London, the Canaries are 15 to 30 minutes further, and Phuket gains a nonstop. Condor’s winter 2026/27 timetable runs Frankfurt to Phuket daily at around 11h15, which beats any one-stop routing from the UK.

Where Is It Hot in November?

Hot here means a mean daily maximum of 28 °C or more for the whole month, the level at which a beach day works from morning to evening without a jacket. Ranked by that figure:

• Goa, India (Panjim): 33.5 °C, and only 21.3 mm of rain after 156.4 mm in October
• Bangkok, Thailand: 33.1 °C, rainfall down to 44.6 mm from 288.7 mm in October
• Kochi, Kerala: 32.6 °C, but still 175.9 mm of northeast-monsoon rain
• Phuket, Thailand: 31.4 °C
• Dubai, UAE: 30.7 °C
• Muscat, Oman: 30.3 °C (Oman’s Directorate General of Meteorology, 1986-2009)
• Barbados: 30.3 °C
• Cancun, Mexico: 29.6 °C
• Galle, Sri Lanka: 28.7 °C, but 16 rainy days and 321 mm
• Sal, Cape Verde: 28.1 °C

Just below the line, and still very usable: Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada at 27.8 °C, Miami at 27.4 °C, Tenerife at 25.4 °C, Gran Canaria at 24.1 °C, Cape Town at 23.7 °C and Marrakech at 23.1 °C.

Air temperature is only half the answer. Sea temperature decides whether you actually swim, and the two diverge sharply in November: Cape Town is a pleasant 23.7 °C on land while the Atlantic beaches at Camps Bay sit around 14 °C.

The Nine Winter-Sun Picks, and the Catch on Each

1. Sal, Cape Verde: the closest thing to guaranteed

Six hours from London for 28.1 °C, a sea around 27 °C and less than half a rainy day in the whole month. Nothing else within that range is as dependable. The catch is the wind: Sal is a windsurfing island for a reason, and a breezy afternoon on an exposed beach feels a lot cooler than 28 °C suggests.

2. Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt: the warmest sea in reach

The Red Sea holds around 27 °C into late November, which is warmer than the Canaries manage in August. Reef snorkelling straight off the shore is the draw. The catch is the night-time drop: the mean minimum is 19.6 °C, so evenings on a terrace need a layer.

3. Hurghada, Egypt: the same weather, usually for less

Hurghada shares Sharm’s climate almost exactly (27.8 °C, 0.1 rainy days) with a slightly cooler sea at around 26 °C, and it is the cheaper of the two most weeks. The catch is that the mean minimum falls to 17.7 °C, and Hurghada is windier, so it suits divers more than sunbathers. Our Hurghada guide covers the resort areas.

4. Dubai, UAE: peak season starts, and so do the prices

November is when Dubai becomes genuinely comfortable: 30.7 °C by day, 21.1 °C at night, sea around 28 °C. That is the point, and everyone knows it, so this is one of the few destinations where November costs more than August rather than less. 5. Tenerife: the short-haul default, for good reason

A four and a half hour flight for 25.4 °C, a sea around 23 °C and 1.4 rainy days. Nowhere else in Europe comes close. The catch is that these numbers come from the southern airport: the north of the island, including Puerto de la Cruz, is measurably cloudier and wetter. 6. Marrakech: warm days, genuinely cold nights

At 23.1 °C by day Marrakech is a comfortable long weekend, and November is its wettest month at only 29.8 mm. The catch is the desert night: the mean minimum is 10.7 °C, and riads with courtyards are cold after dark. Pack a jumper and check the room has heating. More in the Marrakech guide .

7. Phuket, Thailand: the season is opening, not open

The Andaman coast improves fast in November (219 mm and 14.2 rainy days, down from 370.5 mm and 19.9 days in October) with a 30 °C sea. 8. Cancun and the Riviera Maya: the value month

Hurricane season ends on 30 November, the Christmas peak has not started, and Cancun still averages 29.6 °C with a 29 °C sea. That combination is why November is the sharpest-value month on the Yucatan. The catch is 12.4 rainy days, usually short afternoon downpours rather than washouts. See the Mexico guide .

9. Barbados: the Caribbean before the price wall

At 30.3 °C with a 29 °C sea, Barbados in November costs materially less than the same island from mid-December. The catch is rain: 172.6 mm and 14 rainy days, easing markedly as the month goes on. 10. Seville: Europe’s warmest city break

At 20.1 °C, Seville is the only major European city where November still feels like autumn rather than winter, and the Alcazar and cathedral queues are a fraction of their April length. 11. Lisbon: mild, walkable, and quiet

17.8 °C and a city that works entirely on foot and on trams. Tram 28 grinds through Alfama past the cathedral and the castle for the price of a normal fare, and in November you can actually get on it. The catch is rain: Lisbon is the wettest city on this list. 12. Rome: the big sights without the queue

16.9 °C, 8.8 rainy days, and the Forum and Vatican at their most civilised. November is the single best month to see Rome if you dislike crowds more than you dislike drizzle. 13. Istanbul: the best value on this page

15.8 °C, 7.6 rainy days, and museums, markets and food that do not depend on weather at all. The T1 tram crosses the Galata Bridge over the Golden Horn on a standard ticket, which is the cheapest sightseeing in the city. The catch is that the Bosphorus wind makes 15.8 °C feel colder. 14. Krakow: cheapest, and it turns festive late in the month

At 7.6 °C this is a coat-and-gloves trip, and priced accordingly for the first three weeks. Then the Main Market Square market opens and the calculation changes. Is November the Cheapest Month to Travel?

Not the cheapest, but the cheapest that is still warm somewhere. Three structural things converge.

The airline season changes. The IATA Northern Winter 2026/27 scheduling season starts on 25 October 2026, per IATA’s Calendar of Coordination Activities. Summer-only routes stop, winter-sun routes start, and the fare structure resets with them.

There are almost no school holidays. The UK has no bank holiday in November 2026 (GOV.UK), the main continental autumn breaks fall in October, and the next demand spike is Christmas.

The price data agrees. Eurostat’s harmonised index of consumer prices for package holidays in the euro area put November below the same year’s August by 26.3 percent in 2022, 19.3 percent in 2023, 19.4 percent in 2024 and 17.2 percent in 2025. November also came in 6 to 14 percent below October in each of those years.

The reversal is just as sharp. December ran 8 to 19 percent above November across the same four years. In practical terms the cheap window in 2026 is 1 November to the first Advent weekend on 29 November, and shorter than that in the Christmas-market cities.

Black Friday falls on 27 November 2026, the day after US Thanksgiving. Travel sales are real but narrow: they mostly discount departures in January and February, not the December dates people actually want. November Long Weekends and Public Holidays 2026

The pattern for 2026 is unusually friendly to European travellers: 1 November lands on a Sunday and 11 November lands on a Wednesday, so neither creates the bridge weekend that normally pushes short-haul fares up. Japan and Brazil are the two markets where November genuinely spikes.

What Can Go Wrong in November, and What to Do

Calima in the Canaries. Saharan dust reaching ground level is called calima, and it cuts visibility and air quality for a day or two at a time. AEMET publishes a Saharan mineral dust intrusion forecast for the islands. It is a nuisance, not a trip-ender, but it is why a hazy week can follow a clear one with no change in the temperature.

Cold Egyptian evenings. Hurghada’s mean November minimum is 17.7 °C and Sharm’s is 19.6 °C. Poolside after sunset is jumper weather, and many older Red Sea hotels have unheated pools.

The wrong side of Thailand. November is the wettest month of the year on Ko Samui, with 444.6 mm and 16.5 rainy days, while the Andaman coast at Phuket is drying out. Gulf side in November is the single most common Thailand mistake. Go Andaman, or go in a different month.

Sri Lanka and Kerala are still wet. Galle records 321 mm and 16 rainy days in November and Kochi 175.9 mm, because the northeast monsoon runs into December. Both are excellent from late December onwards. See the Sri Lanka and India guides for the right months.

Late-season Caribbean storms. The Atlantic season does not close until 30 November. Nothing on the Yucatan or in Barbados is guaranteed until then, so pay for cancellation cover on early-November dates.

Dubai’s December wall. Eid Al Etihad on 2 and 3 December and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on 3 to 6 December push UAE rates up hard at the end of the month. Mid-November is the value pocket.

Pick Your November and Book the Cheap Half of It

The decision is simpler than the list makes it look. If you want a sea you can swim in without thinking, it is Cape Verde, the Red Sea or the Canaries. If you want a city for the price of a weekend at home, it is Seville, Lisbon, Rome, Istanbul or Krakow, booked before 29 November. If you want the tropics, go late in the month, not early.

Check the fares before you fix the destination: on these routes the price gap between two neighbouring warm-weather airports is often larger than the gap between two dates.
