Old Dubai is a completely different pace, all narrow lanes, wooden abras and souk haggling. The Marina, JBR and Palm Jumeirah are the beach side of the trip. And a desert day is close to mandatory, the dunes start less than an hour from the towers.

Five days is the version worth booking. It keeps a proper Downtown base, gives Old Dubai and the desert a full day each, and adds a dedicated beach day at the Marina or JBR.

Seven days lets the trip breathe. Take the 5-day route, give Palm Jumeirah its own full day rather than a half day, and add a slower second culture day back in Old Dubai or Downtown.

The alternative week: swap one Marina day for a second desert-region excursion (many operators run a different route or overnight desert-camp option), if dune scenery is the priority over more beach time. Recent Booking.com listings (September 2026 search, 2 adults) show budget rooms in Al Mina or Al Qusais running around $43-55/night, mid-range 4-5 star rooms in Business Bay or Jumeirah Lakes Towers running around $55-85/night, and upscale Downtown or Palm Jumeirah rooms running around $120-185/night. The catch: those same properties ran roughly double in a January peak-season comparison, so treat every figure here as a low-season starting point and check your own dates.

How do I get from Dubai International Airport to Downtown?
The Metro Red Line runs from Terminal 3 (station R13) toward Downtown; get off at Union or BurJuman for the Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa area, around 25-30 minutes. A one-time airport surcharge of AED 5 (Silver Nol) or AED 10 (Gold) is added on top of the normal zone fare. A taxi covers the same route in about 20 minutes for around AED 50-60 (about $14-16).
What is a Nol card and how much does it cost?
The Nol card is Dubai’s rechargeable transit card for the Metro, tram, bus and water bus.
