Europe rewards travelers who move with the seasons. The Mediterranean coast (Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia) peaks in July and August, when prices roughly double and the crowds arrive; May, June and September deliver the same beaches with 20 to 25 °C weather for far less. The Alps and Iceland flip that calendar, and cities like Paris, Rome and Prague work year-round.

Budget travelers have structural advantages here: an unmatched low-cost flight network, trains and buses that link most capitals for under 50 €, and guesthouse-heavy accommodation markets in the south and east. Albania, Montenegro and inland Turkey remain the best value on the continent, at roughly half the daily cost of France or Switzerland.
