What changes on October 1, 2026
This is the biggest change to the Platinum in years, and it mainly hits frequent flyers out of Frankfurt and Munich.

American Express Austria gives the reason: the partnership with Lufthansa “cannot be continued.” Per the offer terms, this affects the Platinum Card and the Business Platinum Card issued in Germany.
Which lounges remain: the Global Lounge Collection
The Global Lounge Collection is the Platinum’s lounge package. According to Amex, from October 2026 it includes these networks:

For Delta, Escape and Plaza Premium, Amex’s German pages don’t state their own visit or guest rules; those apply per lounge and are listed in the Lounge Finder.
Priority Pass with the Platinum: the rules in detail
Priority Pass is an independent lounge network with, according to Amex, more than 1,300 lounges. The Platinum includes the top tier, “Prestige,” which Amex says normally costs €459 a year.
- Register. Per the offer terms, main and supplementary cardholders must register themselves for Priority Pass.
- Show at the entrance: your Priority Pass membership card in your own name, that day’s boarding pass, and an official photo ID.
- Guests: one free guest each, every additional one currently €30 per visit, charged to the Platinum.
- No restaurant vouchers: Priority Pass’s restaurant offers at airports without a lounge are not included, per Amex.
The 50-visit limit
The Platinum’s price and service schedule is unambiguous here: main and supplementary cardholders together “are entitled to a maximum of 50 lounge visits per calendar year.” Every guest is counted, “which is then counted as two visits.”

If you exceed the allowance, American Express reserves the right, per the price schedule, to cancel the agreement. Anyone who flies that much should favor Centurion Lounges, where visits are unlimited.
Lounge on the Go: the replacement for Frankfurt and Munich
Lounge on the Go doesn’t replace a lounge seat; it gives you food-and-shopping credit. The offer terms in brief:
- Value: six vouchers worth €20 each, €120 combined.
- Period: October 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027.
- Location: Frankfurt Airport, Terminal 1, and Munich Airport, Terminal 2, at participating outlets.
- Redeem: scan a QR code at checkout with the American Express Experiences App.
- Limit: one redemption per calendar day. If the main card redeemed one that day, the supplementary card can’t.
- Remaining value: buy for less than €20 and the rest is forfeited.
- Who: Platinum and Business Platinum, main and Platinum supplementary card. Plus Cards are excluded.
The math for frequent flyers out of Frankfurt: anyone who used the Lufthansa Business Lounge twelve times a year previously gets at most six €20 vouchers for it through March 2027. If you had the Platinum mainly for Lufthansa, it’s time to run the numbers again, for example with the Amex calculator.

On the Platinum, per Amex, one Platinum supplementary card is included in the fee and has its own lounge access. Up to four more supplementary cards are Gold or American Express Card; Amex doesn’t say whether those have lounge access, so don’t count on it.
Is the Platinum still worth it without Lufthansa?
For frequent flyers with connecting itineraries, yes. For short-haul commuters out of Frankfurt and Munich who relied on Lufthansa, considerably less so.
- Yes, if you fly through hubs with Priority Pass or Centurion lounges, often travel with a companion and use the Platinum’s €650 in annual credits.
- No, if you had the Platinum almost purely for Lufthansa lounges in FRA and MUC. In that case, €720 a year against a Priority Pass for €459 and the Gold or American Express Card is the more honest math.

Does the Amex Platinum still have Lufthansa lounge access from October 2026?
No. According to American Express’s Lounge Finder, cardholders only have access to Lufthansa lounges until September 30, 2026. From October 1, 2026, Lufthansa lounges worldwide are no longer part of the Global Lounge Collection. Priority Pass, Centurion Lounges, Delta Sky Club, Escape and Plaza Premium remain included.
How many lounge visits does the Amex Platinum get per year?
In Priority Pass lounges, at most 50 visits per calendar year combined for the main and supplementary cardholders, and every guest you bring counts as a separate visit. That’s what the Platinum terms from American Express Germany say. In American Express Centurion Lounges, Amex states there’s no limit on the number of visits.
How many guests can I bring into a lounge with the Amex Platinum?

Does the Amex Gold have lounge access?
No free access. With the American Express Gold Card you get, according to Amex, a Priority Pass membership up to 35% cheaper than the regular price, but no access to the Global Lounge Collection. Only the Platinum Card and the Business Platinum Card have free lounge access in Germany.
Is there a Centurion Lounge in Germany?
American Express Germany’s official pages don’t list a Centurion Lounge in Germany. The current locations are shown in the American Express Lounge Finder. From German airports, the Platinum therefore gets you mainly into Priority Pass lounges.
Verdict
The Platinum remains the lounge card in Germany, but from October 2026 it’s without Lufthansa and with a 50-Priority-Pass-visit limit that couples reach faster than they’d expect. If you fly through hubs and bring a companion, the lounge access still carries the fee.
